A Little Bit About Us

Samira’s passion for dogs started from a very young age. As a teenager, she attended multiple shelters for homeless and abandoned dogs in Malta (her home country). Here she would mostly volunteer to walk the dogs or just spend some time with them. Her family are also big supporters of fostering and adopting dogs from the shelters.

When she moved to the Netherlands, she found that the system here works differently. In an attempt to spend as much time with dogs as possible (and earn some pocket money as well as satisfy her love for helping people), Samira started pet sitting. This quickly grew into her main activity after graduating from Radboud University (even though her Masters degree is not at all related to animal care). She acquired a certificate of completion for the Pet Sitters International Essential Online Course in December 2025 and is also participed in an accredited online short course on Clinical Animal Behavior from the University of Edinburgh. These experiences have equipped her with the basic skills to carry out pet care with knowledge of pet health, development stages, anatomy, efficient care practices and basic First Aid.

After months of building a network of clients who always kept returning, satisfied and happy with the care she gives their dogs, Samira is slowly building Hondenoppas Sammy which is now also a registered small business with the KVK.

Samira sometimes collaborates with other pet sitters to ensure most requests can be satisfied and no dog is left without care. We make sure to provide individual attention to your pets and guarantee communication and transparency regarding the care and the services we are giving. We consistently keep you updated through messages and photos, ensuring you can still be involved in your pets day-to-day life. Please take a few minutes to read through what each sit entails (in the What To Expect page) to understand our working ethics better.
